Beautiful places to stay in St Andrews. Our lodges are perfectly placed just a stone’s throw from the historic town of St Andrews. Fancy a scenic stroll? There’s a footpath that takes you right into the town centre, just 1.5 miles away.
Brownhills Farm is not just our home, but it’s also where our family has grown and thrived in farming for around five generations. Who knows how many more to come!
Our family has farmed at both Brownhills and a nearby farm, Chesters Farm, for many years. You’ll find John and Jamie, our dynamic father-son duo, out in the fields growing oats for Quaker oats porridge, wheat for Scottish whisky, and two types of tasty potatoes for the supermarkets. Let’s not forget our lovely horses, part of a livery yard that has been running smoothly for over two decades. You’ll likely spot them from your window!
When it comes to who runs the show, it’s all in the family. You’re likely to meet John (Jamie’s dad), Jamie, Ashley, and our three little girls, Jessica, Emily, and Maisie while you’re here.
We (Jamie & Ashley) got married in 2017. Since then, we’ve grown our lovely family with three girls. In 2021, we decided that we would follow our dream and create Brownhills Lodges St Andrews alongside our farming business. We wanted to make memorable places to stay in St Andrews. For Ashley, this meant swapping working in a Dundee school for the day-to-day running of the lodges. It all adds to the tangible legacy that we’re creating for our girls if they wish to take the reins in future.
